Using Spotify for Baseball and Softball Walk-Up Music
Understand how Spotify playback control works with FieldFire Spark, including Premium, devices, internet, song assignments, and game-day backup.
FieldFire Spark includes permanent Spotify playback control. That means the operator can use an authorized Spotify workflow inside FieldFire. It does not mean Spark includes Spotify service, music, or a speaker.
What your team needs
To use Spotify playback control, provide:
- A Spotify Premium account.
- An authorized connection to FieldFire.
- An active supported Spotify playback device.
- Reliable internet access.
- A compatible venue audio path.
Spotify account terms, subscription fees, availability, and playback behavior remain controlled by Spotify. Your team is responsible for music permissions and licensing.
Set up player assignments before the game
Connect the authorized account and confirm the correct playback device. Search for the intended track, assign it to the player, and verify the selection before game day. Do not rely on a last-minute search while the batter is walking to the plate.
Keep clip timing and content standards consistent across the team. Confirm the exact version of the song, since clean and explicit releases can appear next to each other.
Run the game-day workflow
The operator selects the current player and controls the assigned Spotify playback from FieldFire. A Hype display cue can be run with the moment when the audience output is configured.
Spark controls the workflow. The active Spotify device and venue audio system produce the sound.
Prepare for weak internet
Spotify control needs internet. Test the connection from the operator position, not from the parking lot. If the field has unreliable service, prepare customer-provided local audio for critical walk-ups and know how to switch to the local workflow.
Local audio does not remove the team’s responsibility for music rights, venue rules, or appropriate content.
Keep the account secure
Use an approved team account or account owner, and limit who can change the connection. Do not distribute personal login credentials to every volunteer. Confirm the authorized device before each event and disconnect access when responsibility changes.
Permanent Spotify control is included with Spark, but the external requirements remain separate and should be checked before purchase.
